This book is from a church library (First Baptist Church, 11th & Robinson, Oklahoma City, OK) and later purchased by John W Swails (see comments below). Robertson said Paul was "head in whatever circle he moved, whether as Saul the persecuting Pharisee, or Paul the laboring missionary." This volume is an interesting interpretation of Paul's life as revealed to us in the New Testament, much of which Paul wrote in the form of letters. The Author: Archibald Thomas Robertson was a Southern Baptist preacher and biblical scholar whose work focused on the New Testament and Koine Greek. (Wikipedia) The Condition: The red cloth boards are well-held although scuffed on front and back boards. There is a magnificent embossing of the publisher's device (Charles Scribner's Sons/NY) on the front board. The spine has gilt embossing of the title, retains the remnant of it's status as ex-library, is scuffed and frayed at top and bottom, but otherwise fully intact. The inside front hinges are beginning to show signs of splitting. The front end page has a large open tear across the top, ex-lib stamp and pencil marking in red. There is a small previous owner's plate on the title page's upper right-hand corner & a ex-lib stamp. Dedication page has ex-lib marking in pencil. The pages are faded as expected for a book this edge. There is also underlining and marginalia reflective of the previous owner's (see comments below) thinking. On May 2, 1999, the John W.Swails Center at Emmanuel College was dedicated. The building features an1800-seat auditorium, conference room, offices, indoor archery range, andstorage. Swails was known for his ability to recall large portions of NewTestament books verbatim while his sermons were always text-based. He was anamazing Bible teacher and a compassionate pastor.
